Thanks must also go to the Community Work Scheme through the Department of Corrections. The Rotorua Ngongotaha Rail Trust has been the recipient over the years of hundreds of hours of supervised labour. The aim of the community work is for offenders to pay something back to the community for the offence thay have committed. It also gives the offenders to take responsibility for their offending and learn new skills and work habits.Community work can be in a group or it can be on individual basis through placement at an agency. The Trust has had both. Some show interest in mechanical things and trains whilst working at the Trust Park.
