Rotorua Ngongotaha Rail Trust
The Rotorua Ngongotaha Rail Trust have appointed a General Manager / Assistant CEO who has all the appropriate business and community skills to manage and drive the total operation. The primary role of this position is to manage, co-ordinate and maximising all the activities of the Trust who provide recreational, educational, environmental, ecological and social benefits to the community through the Trusts objects.
The General Manager will also be involved in encouraging local Iwi, community and business groups to enhance their operations via Rail participation, thus also maximising all opportunities that will occur for our community as well through the securing of the 30 year lease on the rail line between Rotorua and Putaruru in December 2009.
With the reopening of the rail line between Rotorua & Putaruru this will mean new job creation for local people, training in all aspects of rail operation including track maintenance, engineering as well as tourism and hospitality.
The Rotorua Ngongotaha Rail Trust recognised it has now grown bigger than a volunteer organisation and to move forward they needed to adapt a more business like structure, ensuring that the growing administration, compliance, projects and events are managed in a professional, efficient and effective manner optimising all opportunities and networks. This has lead the Trust to revise its Business Plan and operational structure. The Trust Structure now takes the following form:
